Love of Literature

I LOVE to read. I suppose that's why I am going into a career where I can talk about books all day long. My favorites range anywhere from a good Shakespeare comedy to a choppy Hemingway love and war novel. I love reading plays and being able to imagine what the sets and costumes would look like if I was director. I think that being completely consumed by another world whether it be a magical school for wizards or a 1920s farm house is the most fascinating thing I can do with my day. I can't wait to read with my students and dissects the methods an author uses to create these worlds. How do you feel about books???

I don't know how to read......... just jokin! Obviously... but anyway, I have never really been able to get into reading since high school pretty much. In high school I just never really wanted to read, but now that I am in college I wish I could sit down and enjoy a good book, but I just don't feel like I have enough time. Maybe when I get done with school I will be able to enjoy books again

I love to read also. Some of my favorite books include The Color Purple by Alice Walker, The Song of Solomon, by Toni Morrison, and short stories by Faulkner. One of my favorite authors is a Tennessee man by the name of William Gay. He has a great book of short stories titled I Hate to See That Evening Sun Go Down.

I can count on one hand how many novels or works of fiction i have read since high school, and that was more than twenty years ago. However, I have recently re-discovered the passion for a great story. a friend of mine gave me The Power of One for Christmas and I can't put it down..well, obviously I can because i'm still reading it, but what i mean is the "love of literature" you have is a most amazing gift you can share with young people forever.
