High Schoolers vs Elementary Students

So, I need some serious insight into the passion to teach younger kids. I cannot imagine teaching that many small childern all day as a career and I think that those of you who take that route are Saints!!! Explain the attraction of working with little kids.

I want to work with little kids because if you can get their respect, they just think you are the greatest! And in return that makes me feel great. Some of the things they say are just so funny too, that I just can't wait to hear what comes out of their mouth next! I don't know if I could spend 30 years teaching elementary school, so thats why I am hoping to one day become a principal. But, I am very excited to get my chance to finally start teaching

I really want to teach Kindergarten. I have always wanted to teach in the lower grades. My reason for wanting to teach in the lower grades is that it is such a blessing to be able to see your teaching take hold and form. You get to see the children grow everyday in a different way. Also in Kindergarten the children are so trusting and are more willing to learn I believe!

Karie, I'm in the same boat as you! I have plenty of patience, but I would never be able to teach younger kids (i.e. elementary school). I would rather have the ability to engage my students in in-depth conversations.

I love working with young children. I plan on teaching K-3. They are fun and energetic. Most of them really want to be in school and they want to learn new things. I hope that I can keep this love for learning going in them.
